This is The SmartGoat Blog. The website address is: https://www.smartgoat.me. It is a independent personal tech blog and not associated with any other companies. The main goal is of this blog is to publish original content and not to make tonns of Benjamin’s. So here is a super simple privacy policy of this blog.

Analytics

I actively avoid Google analytics on my site. I also don’t use any other third party analytics tools. To monitor traffic on this site, I use self-hosted Umami and Plausible analytics. Both run on my own server, so no third party is involved, and they are anonymous. Also my website is self-hosted. So no hosting provider is involved. All my servers are located in Amsterdam to comply with EU regulations.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site collect the data shown in the comments form.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. But if you choose not to. That is totally fine.

I run Google Ads on this site, to offset the cost of running this website. In that case, the ad provider will set other cookies, which I can’t control, but you totally can, thanks to our good friends at EU. Also you can use adblockers too. But in that case, try supporting the site in other ways.

Embedded content from other website

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who I share your data with

I use different technologies to server my site, notably CDNs like Cloudflare or Bunny. This Services also helps mitigating DDOS and other nasty attacks, so they may collect your IP and which browser you are using to seperate malicious traffic. But this data is not used to invade your privacy.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data this site hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that we erase any personal data this site holds about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

The analytics data is not personalized and not stored permanently.

I value your privacy very much and I don’t collect your personally identifiable data. This site comply with EU regulations and as, it doesn’t uses any cookies, it doesn’t ask for your permission for that. When ads are displayed, the ad network will ask cookie permission from you.
